They range in weight from 22 to 52 kilos (48 to 115 pounds), with males being about a third larger than females.

Snow leopards have long, thick fur with a smoky gray to yellowish tan base color and pale underparts. They have open rosettes on their bodies that range from dark grey to black, with little spots of the same color on their heads and larger spots on their legs and tails.
